-- In Memoriam --

Gary Barnaby

November 5, 2023

(Towers 61B)

Gary moved here from Tucson raring and ready for a new life. There was, fortunately, enough time to him to meet his beloved Pepe who took care of him through the years of decline that followed. We will miss Gary’s winning smile and ascerbic wit and of course his dear little Toby.

Arrangements are pending.

Oscar Perez-Castillo
June 15, 2023
(Towers 101A)

Oscar was a vibrant man, full of life and interested in everything America could offer. People were drawn to his winning smile and kindly ways. Several years ago he suffered a debilitating stroke. His loving wife and children and grandchildren rose to the occasion; no family could have been more devoted to their patriarch, taking him out frequently, wheeling him around Vizcaya and seeing that he remained head of their loving family.

Vizcaya offers to Gloria and all the Perez-Castillos our sincere condolences on the loss of this good man.

Otto Fernsel

 May 5, 2023

(Towers 144A)

Otto was a gentle man and a gentleman who will be greatly missed. He served as president of his condo association before he and his dear wife Charlene moved here a few years ago, when he devoted his energies to his beloved game of golf. He ran the pro shop at the Cypress/Oaks courses and single-handedly organized every element of a golf tournament each Sunday that drew dozens of devoted followers; he knew which folks liked to team up together and his attention to detail made Sundays a red-letter day for many Palm Airians and others.

Otto was a soft-spoken man of few words, but he was also a friend who was there when needed. To Charlene and to their family, we offer our heartfelt condolences on the loss too soon of a man of honesty, simplicity and decency, with a dry wit and a ready smile for all.

The Memorial Service for Otto Fernsel will take place at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 19th (check-in at 2 p.m.) at
